Clumpy Bounce Topic Search
Use Wikipedia Categories to Build Topical Google Searches
The Concept
When multiple related topics appear together on a webpage, it's likely the page focuses on their shared subject. For example:
- If one baseball player is mentioned, it might just be a passing reference
- If two are mentioned, it could be coincidental
- But if three baseball players appear, the page is probably about baseball
How It Works
-
Start with a Wikipedia search
Begin typing any topic in the search box. The autocomplete will suggest relevant Wikipedia pages. Select a page that matches your interest.
-
Choose a category
The system will display categories related to your selected page. Pick a category that best represents what you're looking for.
-
Select popular pages
You'll see a list of the most popular pages in that category. Check up to three pages that are most relevant to your search.
-
Get targeted Google results
Clumpy Bounce will create a specialized Google search using your selections. The search automatically filters out e-commerce and other low-value sites. Results will open in a new tab, focusing on information-dense content.
Tips for Better Results
- Try searching for diverse topics: company names, plants, minerals, fictional characters, etc.
- If you see very famous people who don't seem to fit the category (like celebrities who happen to have a minor connection), avoid selecting them
- If you're unfamiliar with the items in your results list, choose options from the middle of the list for better relevance
- Single keywords often work best for the initial search
Clumpy Bounce helps you cut through the noise and find quality content by leveraging Wikipedia's categorization system and page popularity data.
